leaders
Purpose of
Workshop:
The 21st
century is in desperate need of financial firepower that can support a women¡¯s
delicate sensitivity, respect for individuality, and creativity as well as soft power the ability to avoid
confrontation and seek a win through tolerance.
In today¡¯s
world, female leadership is taking the world by storm. For example, even in
South Korea, where the overall status of women is relatively low compared to
its superior economic and technological advancements, the country¡¯s first
female President was elected. Furthermore, more and more prominent women
leaders are rapidly taking charge and becoming prominent figures in both
businesses and society. However, the percentage of women in executive
decision-making process poisons still remains significantly low. For example,
the percentage of Korean female lawmakers remains at 15.7% (105th
out f 190 countries), of the 100 listed companies the female executive
percentage remains at 1.7%, and in public institutions the percentage of women
is a staggering 8.8%. This undermines the realization of gender equality in
South Korea and stands as the largest obstacle.
In light of this
problem, the 2013 Korean National Council of Women¡¯s Women Leaders Workshop
gathers women leaders from across the country to focus on ¡°Women¡¯s Leadership
in the Era of Globalization.¡± The workshop will center on analyzing the
particular requirements and qualities necessary for a woman leader in our
century and will discuss methods necessary to improving and strengthening the
representation and social participation of women.
The 2013 ¡°Korean
National Council of Women¡¯s Women Leaders Workshop¡± will be a significant event
that gathers women leaders who have been nationally active in all areas
together in an event that will maximize interactions, build networks, and
discuss topics that center on the advancement of females and the realization of
gender equality.
